Sumter Human Resource Management Association (SHRMA) Awarded

For Elevating Human Resources, Improving Workplaces

SUMTER, SC, May 26, 2020 — SHRM (the Society for Human Resource Management) recently awarded Sumter Human Resource Management Association (SHRMA) its prestigious EXCEL PLATINUM Award for the CHAPTER’s accomplishments in 2019.

The EXCEL award aligns individual chapters’ and state councils’ activities with SHRM’s aspirations for the HR profession. The award recognizes major accomplishments, strategic activities, and tactical initiatives that elevate the profession of human resources.

The EXCEL Award can be earned at four levels: bronze, silver, gold and platinum. Each level has a prescribed set of requirements and accomplishments that must be met. Sumter Human Resource Management Association will receive recognition in SHRM publications and at conferences, a logo to display on its website, and information to share with its members about the significance of this award.

This is the third year in a row Sumter Human Resource Management Association has earned the PLATINUM EXCEL award.  SHRMA achieved the PLATINUM EXCEL award by providing a membership initiative to offer alternative meeting locations, by providing knowledge and expertise for a case competition at East Carolina University, by fostering volunteer development through a veteran's intiative in placing American flags on over 6000 graves at Ford Jackson, by helping Feed the Starving Children in August 2019 at the Sumter County Civic Center, and donating a number of items to the women's shelter through the YWCA in December 2019.
