While an affiliate of SHRM National, the Chapter operates independently to provide a wide variety of professional development and networking opportunities for Sumter area HR professionals. Chapter Organization

SHRMA is governed by four officers, elected every two years, which include the President, President-Elect, Secretary and Treasurer. In addition, four standing committees have been established to address HR issues deemed important by member input, suggestions and needs. Currently, these committees include Workforce Readiness, Legislative, Certification, and Membership.

The purpose of SHRMA, as identified in the Articles of Organization and By-Laws, is the following:

    • To provide opportunities for conferences, cooperative knowledge and experience among members.
    • To raise the standards of performance in all phases of human resources administration and industrial relations.
